So, here’s the result – a sound installation consisting of 8 speakers playing recordings made with hydrophones from four corners of Skeppsholmen (South, East, North, West), and it was performed during the Stockholm Music & Arts festival on the 29-31 of July. Depending on which corner the listener was in, you could hear the different parts. Next to the installation followed a short text with the title:
MONDAY IN JUNE 2016, SKEPPSHOLMEN, STOCKHOLM
IT’S A QUIET DAY. BLUE SKIES AND A SUN THAT BLAZES. TWO PEOPLE WALKING ALONG THE PIER. SILENCE.
I SIT STILL FOR A WHILE, AND A BOAT RIDES SLOWLY OVER THE STILL WATER. YOU CAN HEAR THE SCREAMS FROM GRÖNA LUND FROM AFAR.
SMALL WAVES MAKES THE BOATS ROCK LIGHTLY AND CLUCKS UNDERNEATH THE PIER. THE CHAINS SQUEAKS AGAINST THE BOARDS.
THE FERRIES LIES IN A ROW AND WAITS. AN ACRID SMELL OF SEAWEED LIES IN THE AIR.
WATER ROLLS IN OVER THE SMALL BEACH.
IT’S STILL EARLY SUMMER BUT EMPTY OF PEOPLE.
A FERRIE LEAVES NYBROKAJEN AND PASSES BY THE VASA MUSEUM,
AND DISAPPEARS AS IT PASSES THE ISLAND.
Hopefully I’ll be performing this again soon.
